The Central Council is the supreme legislative body in Catland.
There are fifty-one members in total. The identity of members is not available to the public, with the exception of the President (Fisher Meowston, UC leader) who is entitled to a seat.
Sessions may be rescheduled in exceptional circumstances.
The current United Catland minority Government was sworn in on the 4th of January 2026. There is a confidence and supply agreement between the Liberal Regional Party and the United Catland administration.
The Council does not hold elections. All members are appointed by the President, who receives a recommendation of seat allocations from the Independent Advisor. When this recommendation is acted upon, it is called a Council reshuffle and is the closest thing to direct elections currently available.
Members are appointed by the President. After their appointment, they will remain for at least ten votes afterwards. The President cannot remove members before ten votes have been held, unless a member has committed a crime.
The most recent reshuffle took place on the 4th of January 2026; the next one is scheduled for the 27th of June 2026.
Presidential elections are not currently planned; the current term is unlimited.
It should be noted that the Government would like to, in the far future, hold democratic elections to the Council. Regardless, the President's own selected Council members are working for you and are focused on making progress for the country.
